Ø Households contacted through staff door-to-door outreach:  66

Ø Households contacted through mailing outreach:  3,500 households at three different times per year  for a total of 10,500 contacts in 2009

Ø Kids Klub Supper Hour Members/Participants to include children's Christmas party:  59 children, 6 parents (Tuesdays,  January 6th thru May 19th; October 6th thru December 15)

Ø Kids Evening Playtime Members/Participants:  41 (Thursdays, March 5th thru December 17th)

Ø Kids Afternoon Summer Fun  Members/Participants:  27 (Thursdays, July 9th thru August 13th)

*These breakouts and total numbers reflect only those persons enrolled as members or participants in our regular programs or neighborhood one-time events in 2009.  The breakouts do not include those family members served in the Vine neighborhood who don't meet the criteria for our regularly scheduled programs and activities (i.e. too young) yet still receive some form of assistance or support throughout the year.

 

STATISTICAL BREAKDOWN OF MEALS, SNACKS, SHORT-TERM PROJECTS AND YEARLY ACTIVITIES

Ø Total number of meals and snacks served:   1829

Ø Total number of yearly activities:  224 (excludes emergency assistance, outreach, pastoral(caring) services/visitation to residents in homes, hospitals, or other institutions i.e. skilled nursing facilities, jails/prisons.  These type of activities by staff or volunteers are too numerous to count)

Ø Total number of people served through distribution of  holiday baskets or gift cards by special donors: 68

Ø Annual Barbecue & Pool Party for young people hosted by donors:  28 children, ages 3 to 16

 

   

ACCOMPLISHMENTS OVER AND ABOVE REGULAR ACTIVITIES, PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Ø Created and/or participated in board fund-raisers:  Summer Golf Putt Off, Spring, Summer &

     Winter Pecan Sale

Ø Carried out a second summer long weekly co-sponsored neighborhood youth recreation pilot project with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety that included regular outings from the Vine neighborhood with staff and two police officers.  This will become a formal, co-sponsored program in 2010

Ø Created Women Faith Writers pilot project for Vine neighborhood residents or professionals

Ø Created and scheduled a Christmas trip for Vine families to the Science & Industry Museum that necessitated rescheduling until January, 2010 due to inclement weather and dangerous road conditions

Ø Met with leaders and members of Threads Church to assist them through sharing our challenges, experiences and achievements to create and implement grassroots' outreach and program efforts in the Milwood Neighborhood of Kalamazoo where pockets of poverty now exist.

Ø Nominated and celebrated the Career Volunteer Star Award of two of our Kids Klub volunteers, Dick & Betty VanderMolen
